CRL will be sponsoring the Insider North West Housing Breakfast later this month.

The Insider breakfast will see high profile names from the housing sector focus their discussion on housing for the Northern Powerhouse and look at the drivers for demand, development and delivery of housing across the North West.

The event is taking place at the Hallmark Hotel in Handforth, near Wilmslow in Cheshire on 24 May.

The panel will look at housing outside the city centres and topics up for discussion will include planning, funding, land supply and housing targets.

The government has embarked on the largest housebuilding programme since the 1970s as it looks to build a million homes by 2021. To create these, it has doubled the investment in housing to more than £20billion over the next five years and announced new initiatives including the £1.2billion Starter Home Fund to prepare brownfield sites for building.

As such, partnerships with local authorities will be critical, with 17 councils in the North West chosen to pilot brownfield registers. In addition, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities is working to create a ground-breaking Spatial Framework for Greater Manchester to free up more land.
