Rhino Safety Ltd helps secure future of community cycling charity
Community Recycle Cycles, a cycle refurbishment company, has enlisted the help of safety consultants Rhino Safety Ltd to secure the future of the charity.
With an annual budget that could not cover expenses such as paying for specialist advice, Community Recycle Cycles came to Cheshire Connect to get some business support in meeting health and safety regulations.
Cheshire Connect’s Business Connector Dianne Parrish matched the community charity with health, safety, fire risk and environment consultants Rhino Safety Ltd.
After meeting Dianne, Simon Walters was quick to visit the charity premises and carry out a full review of the site’s health and safety and risk status, making recommendations that would make the workshop and shop fully compliant. The review was essential to the future of the charity.
Annette Cormack, charity manager at Community Cycle Recycles, said: “With Rhino’s help, we have been able to ensure that we are fully compliant with Health and Safety regulation which is great news for Community Recycle Cycles and helps us to concentrate on our services.
“Also, besides the regulatory aspect of Rhino’s input, their work with us encouraged one of our volunteers to take on the role of safety officer as part of his development plan to seek employment in the fire service.
“This is a great additional outcome for us which fits so well with our ethos of supporting young adults.”
Simon Walter from Rhino was happy to help this young and vibrant charity comply with the regulatory requirements underpinning a workshop and shop environment.
Simon explained: “Taking time to deliver our services to charities is an important part of our business. The fact that we were able to support the Community Recycle Cycles team in having a robust Health and Safety policy in place means that they can focus on delivering a great service. It was a real pleasure to work with the team.”
Following the review, besides the new ambitions of a young volunteer to become Fire Safety Officer, the team has total peace of mind that they are now fully compliant with statutory requirements so that they can focus on offering healthy and accessible forms of transport whilst creating real opportunities for young adults to learn skills and access jobs.
