NJL Consulting is delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted for a 3,192 square metre extension to Housing Unit’s existing office and distribution headquarters off Tweedale Way in Failsworth, which obtained unanimous approval from Oldham’s Planning Committee. Pozzoni was also on the project team as the sole architects.

NJL prepared and submitted the planning application, including preparing a Planning Statement.  NJL coordinated the suite of documents submitted with the application and worked with Pozzoni to finalise the plans package.  During the application process NJL worked closely with Oldham Council to minimise the conditions attached to the planning permission and pre-commencement conditions, to facilitate a quick development programme.

Housing Units first opened its doors in 1947.  Today it is one of Manchester’s biggest furniture stores stocking over 30,000 products and employing over 300 members of staff.  It operates from its distribution centre and headquarters off Tweedale Way and its neighbouring retail premises off Wickentree Lane in Failsworth.  The warehouse extension will enable Housing Units to continue to grow and meet the needs of its expanding customer base. It represents a significant investment for a thriving local business.

Stuart Fox, Managing Director at Housing Units, said “NJL has been exceptional from the initial brief through to planning consent, delivering a great outcome in a very quick timeframe.”

Annabel Partridge, Associate Director at NJL, said “NJL Consulting is delighted to have worked with Housing Units to obtain planning permission for a much-needed extension to their warehouse.  This development will support the ongoing growth of Housing Units in store and online business”.
