£12,500 donated to charity partners Elle for Elle and The Prince’s Trust

A total of £25,000 was raised at the annual Women of the Year Luncheon & Awards on Friday 25th October 2019 for nominated charities, Elle for Elle and The Prince’s Trust.

Elle for Elle is a women’s charity dedicated to helping women and girls who have escaped domestic violence and moved into refuges. Set up by Lynette Page Collin and Rachel O’Hare and based in Greater Manchester, the organisation also looks to provide women with beauty qualifications and skills to provide opportunity to work within salons or for themselves after leaving refuges.

The Prince’s Trust will use the money raised to bolster its Women Supporting Women Programme which seeks to help women gain the skills needed to live, learn and earn.

The 37th Women of the Year Luncheon & Awards ceremony, this year adopted the theme of self-empowerment. The event featured an inspirational talk from Stockport actress Sally Lindsay and a luxury three-course luncheon ahead of the presentation of the prestigious 2019 awards.

Co-founders of Elle for Elle Rachel O’Hare and Lynette Page Collin said: “We are absolutely delighted with the funds raised at this year’s Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards. It is a brilliant event and we are so grateful to all those who continue support us.

“The money raised will make a huge difference to women across the country who have been affected by domestic abuse and will allow us to ensure more women wake up with a gift on Christmas Day with our Gift Set Campaign.”

Women’s charity Elle for Elle has recently received praise in Westminster for giving the nation’s most vulnerable women ‘moments of dignity’, Elle for Elle aims to raise awareness for the plight of thousands of women and even more children housed in women’s refuges throughout the UK.

The 600+ guests were welcomed to indulge in a boutique shopping experience, followed by a drink’s reception sponsored by Gordons Premium Pink at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole.

A three-course lunch was designed by MasterChef 2019 winner Irini Tzortzoglou and her fellow finalists Jilly McCord and Delia Maria Asser.

Established in Nottingham in 1982, the awards ceremony has grown from being a regional lady’s luncheon to a national award with a key focus on business and women who have strived to achieve the unthinkable in the most challenging of circumstances across the UK.

Chair of Women of the Year Luncheon & Awards, Zalena Vandrewala said: “The Awards look to celebrate and highlight the achievements of women nationwide.

“It is therefore fitting that our nominated charities in 2019 were Elle For Elle and The Princes Trust: Women Supporting Women, with both charities actively improving the lives of women and we are delighted with the money we were able to raise”.
